IBM is putting added emphasis on its cyber security business, and yesterday the company announced a new suite of products and services designed to help secure cloud environments. The company said its new Dynamic Cloud Security portfolio addresses security gaps that can exist between on-premise, cloud, software-as-a-service and mobile applications.

“Customers are now moving critical workloads to the cloud and they expect enterprise grade security to move with it,” Brendan Hannigan, general manager of IBM Security Systems, said in a statement. “We have pivoted our entire security portfolio to the cloud to help customers lock down user access, control data and maintain visibility. With the right visibility into threats, enterprises can more securely connect their people, data and processes to the cloud.”

The portfolio, which was developed over the past year, is designed to help manage access, defend against attacks, monitor the cloud and optimize security. A complete rundown is available on IBM’s website.

IBM says it has invested $1.2 billion to date to expand its global cloud footprint to 40 data centers in every major market as well as another $7 billion in key cloud acquisitions including the $2 billion acquisition of SoftLayer, a cloud infrastructure provider. The company also says that after more than two years of double-digit growth in security revenues, it is currently the largest enterprise security management vendor in the world.
